Sydney Catholic Chinese Mission was established by Fr. Paschal
Chang OFM and the late Bishop Leonard Hsu OFM in 1954 upon the
request of the late Cardinal Gilroy. At first, Mass was held at the
basement of St. Mary's Cathedral. Subsequently, it was moved to
Asiana Centre, Ashfield. Since the community outgrew the capacity of
Asiana Centre, so in 1985 the Chinese Catholic Pastoral Centre was
moved to St. Peter Julian's Church which is
located at Chinatown, Sydney.

Besides celebrating
Masses on Sunday mornings, our chaplain also adminsters the
sacraments of
reconciliation and
marriage and other
sacramentals at other
times.
The Pastoral Centre conducts
Adult Catechumen classes (RCIA programs)
at St. Peter Julian's Church and at Asiana Centre and
Children Sunday School at
Asiana Centre.
In order to enrich the spiritual life of our community
members, a
library was set up to lend out religious books, audio tapes and
video tapes to our community members. And to cater for the communication needs
of our elderly community members,
simple conversational English
is instructed at the Pastoral Centre Hall.
Bible study or sharing groups are organised in the
five metropolitan universities in Sydney,
several suburbs and at the
Pastoral Centre in order
to deepen the faith and foster the spiritual growth of our community members.
